The individual finals of the first World Cup stage of the year took place on Sunday afternoon on Santo Domingo’s Plaza de Espana. The Italian VALEEVA was crowned the “Queen of Santo Domingo”, winning her second title in a row in the Dominican Republic in the recurve women’s category. The new Mixed Team event was a real success

The new mixed competition is an innovation launched this year on the occasion of the World Cup. The qualification scores of the best two archers of each country having at least one competitor per gender gave the mixed team ranking. In the recurve division, the experienced Italians DI BUO and VALEEVA clinched the first gold medal of this new event. In compound, the Danish pairing of DAMSBO and SOEMOD won the first gold. More...

Recurve Qualifications Update

The World Cup Stage 1 in Santo Domingo started on Wednesday 1 April 2009. This first day of competition was devoted to the qualifications in the recurve divisions. On the men’s side, BANERJEE (IND) proved the most consistent at the four distances—90, 70, 50 and 30 metres—and took the top seed place. The 2008 World Cup winner MOSPINEK (POL) placed 1st of the recurve women’s qualifications after shooting at 70, 60, 50 and 30 metres. Ranked 2nd, VALEEVA (ITA) tied the European record at 30m with 357 points. More...
